Youth Programs

Listed below are programs that are presently available for youth, elementary through high school age.  Several of these programs are being offered on an on-going basis in school systems around the Atlanta area.  They are available as a series or as individual assemblies.

Our classes not only engage students in music, but share cultural lessons from around the world.  The students benefits by gaining educational knowledge and skills along with emotional and social development as they become an active part of a percussion ensemble. These programs are a wonderful means to introduce young students to music theory that will lead to a better understanding when playing other instruments.

The Rhythm and Drum Circle is a guided interactive music making experience that is facilitated by one of the One Hour Drummer staff.

Our goal is to provide a creative environment where children can experience the joy of music making together in a group. We play a variety of rhythm games and provide a range of percussion instruments for participants to play. This activity not only focuses on music-making but listening, collaboration and creativity.

For many, this may be their first formal music experience and we do our best  to make it a memorable, joyful event  that can be the first step in launching an interest in the art of music-making.

Single or multiple session programs are available.

The cultures of Japan, China, Korea, and other Asian countries have rich and varied influences over many aspects of our daily lives. In this program, we not only learn about, but create music and art on Taiko drums that students build.

This Taiko (Big Drum) program is available for elementary and teenage students.

This multi-session program includes:

  • Cultural and historical information
  • Taiko lessons
  • Instrument building (materials etc)
  • Design and decorate your own instrument
  • Experiment with traditional instruments

ATLANTA TAIKO PROJECT, our “New American Taiko” experience offers your youth a thunderous, heart-pounding performance.  This interactive event educates the audience on the traditions of Taiko and the new forms it is taking.
